Heated Dryers

Engineering Interest Heated Purge Dryers are used for critical applications where compressed air dew points must be maintained below -40°F.

EI Heated Purge Dryers provide energy efficient and reliable operation with minimal maintenance.

 

Principal of Operation:

The EI Heated Purge Dryer consists of dual towers, each filled with desiccant.

One tower is on-line, drying the compressed air stream, while the off-line tower is being regenerated.  Desiccant regeneration is accomplished by using dry, expanded purge air and passing it though an external heater.  Water vapor in the wet desiccant bed is desorbed by the hot purge stream.  The moisture laden purge air stream is vented to atmosphere.

The dryer operation is continuous and automatic.  The standard drying / regenerating NEMA cycle is 8 hours, 4 hours drying, and 4 hours regenerating per tower.  Regeneration is 3 hours heating and 1 hour cooling per tower.
